What to buy? 10x42 VS 12x42 Nikon Monarch 5s????????

I have a gift card that is about to expire and the store it is for only carries Nikon Binos

I have never bought a set of Binos in my life, they have a set of Nikon Monarch 5s in 10x42 and 12x42

These are my only options, i have been reading reviews for days.........

I will be using these for target practice, wildlife watching, maybe hunting one day when i have time

I have read many times the 12x42 are SHAKEY?

i wont be using these strapped to a tripod and no iam not buying a spotting scope

What do you guys think? 10x42 or 12x42?

I would go with the 10X. Plenty of power.
I have a 10X bushnell which have served me well for 45 years.
The glass isn't what the new ones are and still I am happy with 10X.
 
I have the Monarch 5 8x42 and they are pretty good glass for the money! I would buy them again for sure. Our house uses them for birding so I can't comment on the 10 vs 12 power.

Same I have the 10s and my spouse has 8s she finds the 10s harder to use with a small field of view. I like the detail from the 10s and figure the few times I have looked in 12s that there was a decease in usefulness as slight hand movements when you got tired were magnified and provided a shaky view. She has Vortex Razors and I have Vipers. We are each happy with our choices.
