I want to buy a 9mm glock but dont know which one? Is the g17c just for show? I know 9mm is a pea shooter as it is! I know the rtf2 has the rough finish, i handled one today, and the regular g17 is just a plain old glock! And the model 34 just looks odd! Ive never owned a glock and would like to buy one what are the pros and cons of these? I really appreciate the feedback
thanks alot
mike

if you plan on doing some ipsc with that gun, then the C model would be out of the question. Which leaves you two choices, regular or RTF. The differences are cosmetical, and you said you handled the RTF...

IMO, for what its worth, the RTF gives a nice grip in comparison to the regular frame, but is just too ugly for me. So I got a regular framed glock

I would stay away from the C if you shoot indoors in lower light situations, the flash can be blinding. The regular is great and then you can mod it from there.

is it really that much?
I tought the ports were directed at 11 and 1 o'clock which in all logic would prevent blinding, whereas my racegun has all the ports at 12oclock and it is not blinding at all

I have an RTF (22) and have no qualms about recommending it. I found it much better feeling than the Gen 4.. so I bought it. Just my 2cents. (some say it's ugly...apparently...meh..)

Me, I'd be happy with a 2nd or 3rd gen Glock 17.

I'm planning on getting one when the right deal come up in the EE.

NAA.

I like the rough texture feel. I put skateboard tape on my G21 which feels similar to the RTF. Helps keep your hand in the same position when hands are sweaty. My G17 doesn't have the RTF but if I didn't have a 3rd gen already I would buy the RTF. When I get arond to it I am going to put the skateboard tape on my G17 as well. I have noticed a difference with my G21 at IDPA since I put skateboard tape on it. Not just if my hands are sweaty but I also get the gun out of my holster and in position faster.

I would stay away from the Glock 17C as it puts you out of the more popular uses of the Glock 17 - IPSC Production. I am not sure about IDPA either.

Stick with either of the other two. I have handled an RTF and I would like it for competition use with the rough texture.

Get the Gen 4. Same price as the Gen 3 with all the new upgraded features. Multiple backstraps, thinner frame, RTF, and dual recoil spring setup. I have the new G22. Real nice shooter.
