ive decided the caliber is gonna be a 22-250.not sure what rifle to get it in .something lightweight ,favoring the tikka t3 line up .ideas please .i have the scope .

define varmint hunting? sitting in one spot shooting gophers? or walking the countryside calling coyotes and other predators?

I wouldnt want a 7 lb gopher gun, nor would I want a 11 lb walking coyote rig

a rifle i would like would be used for walkin the countryside for callin coyotes and shootin crows .

Look at the savage model 10 predator it weighs in at 7.2lbs carries nice on a sling with a bi-pod I could carry it all day on my back.....the medium heavy barrel is very accurate and the matte camo finish will not spook the predators.

my .22-250 will shoot 1/2 MOA groups out to 350yds with hand loads and 3/4-1 MOA with various factory loads.

The accutrigger can be made as light as 1.5lbs so you not moving while pulling the trigger.

I just got a Remmy 700 SPS "VARMINT" Even with the heavy barrel 26" long its still a light gun due to the synthetic stock. Its DEFINATELY lighter than my Ruger M77 MkII *Target*.....with scope, bipod, 26" heavy barrell and the laminate stock its gotta be in at 15 lbs.

walking varminter, you cant go wrong with a Rem 700 SPS or Tikka T3, topped with a good 3-9x40 or 4-12 like a 3200 or Leupold VXI
