Trying to get 2 out of the 4...

that's a nice but expensive list , plus two of your choices are very large pistols, but you can't go wrong with a 9 and a 45

HK Mark 23...because I have one! Its a great gun. Even my wife can shoot it well. Only problem is finding a holster for it! Seems only the Safariland6004/6005 will fit.

yes I know I already have a desert eagle but not in .50... I like the Mark 23 because its big like the DE

If you already have a desert eagle then all you need is a .50 barrel and mag, unless your deagle is a .357, then you need the bolt too.

IPSC, IDPA, or just go out and target shoot?

Any gun is good for general target shooting.

But if you want IPSC or IDPA then you are into something a little different.

I have a Mark23. Its an amazing gun, huge fun to shoot!

After shooting quite a few other pistols, the mark23 is still my favorite. It just seems to be more "fun" to shoot. Very easy recoil, goes back on target pretty quick. A little front-heavy to swing around for competition stuff (not bad tho) but the lack of recoil makes up for it IMHO!
