What to choose: smith & wesson MP or GLOCK 17 gen4

I have gigantic hands and own an m&p9. I was using the large backstrap but wanted something bigger. Picked up a hogue handball sleeve and it's perfect. No longer need to think about where my finger is on the trigger when shooting, always right where I need it
 
While I'm sure the m&p is reliable, Glocks are known for being near the top for reliability and robustness.
I have a G17 gen 4 and it has been flawless, super easy to field strip and clean. However I think the m&p might win on out ergonomics even vs Gen 4 glock.
For me I valued the reliability and robustness more than the ergos.
I suspect anyone using almost any handgun would adapt to ergos over time, but you cant change reliability and robustness. Just my 2 bits.
 
I had a M&P9 a few months back, and I have owned a G17 Gen 4 and a G34 Gen 3.5.

The G34 is the only one still in my safe.

If I was to give you advice I would suggest trying both brands and then... consider a sig :D I have been hooked on Sig for the last few months.
 
I've got really small hands, and I found the m&p to be a much better fit.mthe ranges kits are sweet deals. I got mine for $620 and it came with 4 mags. I'm sure there is no difference in terms of reliability despite what glock owners might tell you.
 
M&P for ergonomics, Glock for tinkering, robustness and parts availability.
However, I think smith and Wesson has service centers in Canada. Does glock?
 
I owned both but not a (gen4) glock and still have the M&P , I like the M&P a little better and will prob buy another glock (gen4) someday, both are great and can`t go wrong with either.

Then the walther ppq came along and outdid the glocks and MP :)
 
I had both, and sold off the Glock. My M&P 9 Pro has been nothing short of stellar. Not a single FTF, FTE, or any other kind of failure whatsoever. Spookly accurate. Feels great in the hand and points very naturally. The trigger in the 9 Pro is a night and day difference from the Glock. Light, clean reset, and breaks beautifully. I really didn't like the Glock trigger, how it pointed for me, or how boxy it felt in my hand. But that's just me.

Sure, Glock was the original, but look at how they've changed after the M&P's came to the market. Both are dead nuts reliable, and have massive fan bases. Personally I prefer the M&P, and can't see myself purchasing another Glock, but really, you can't go wrong with either.

Holsters and additional magazines will also need to be available before the PPQ can be taken seriously.

Yes. Police Ordnance. They fixed my gen 3 glock 21 when the ambi mag release fell out. They do glock warrenty work.

Damn you - now I have to seriously consider getting one cause I need a second 9mm. I was going to just get another Glock, but maybe I should forget about the advantages of having two of the same firearm, and get the M&P. Or spend a bit more and get a Sig.
Crap I'm turning into a gun nut....
Time to go tinker with my new VZ58...

Oh, that's good to know then. I own 2 Glocks and was hoping if something bad happened to them, I wouldn't have to deal with the pain of being screwed without extra parts.
