Ok after a looking around a bit I am thinking of buying one of the following.
I would like advice on tiggers, accuacy, ease of use since I am a newbie....etc

Choices in no particular order.

Para Ordnance 1911 GI Expert 45 caliber
Para Ordnance PX745E 45 caliber
Springfield 1911 45 caliber
CZ 75B in 9mm

What do you think ?? I would prefer 9mm in caliber but I think the 1911's are cool, maybe not the best starter gun ???
If anyone has better suggestions I am open. SIG maybe Glock ??

i went with a 1911 45 for my first pistol but later saw that most of the competition shooters use 9mm, and cz is quality. i would stay away entirely from para. i think my next gun will be a cz in 9

My brother has a CZ75 (pre B) and he loves it, it shoots really nicely and he hasn't had any problems with it. I personally like the springfield 1911 but it all comes down to personal preference when choosing a pistol. I would stick with the CZ 75B in 9mm and its a lot cheaper to buy ammo for 9mm than 45acp.

I know two guys with cracked Para slides that took 9 months for the company to replace.

My CZ85 combat is a very accurate gun, but l hated the factory trigger pull. 9mm is a little cheaper to shoot than a .45ACP.

Just picked up an STI Spartan and it's extremely accurate. Not as pretty as my Springfield, but the slide to frame fit is like a bank vault and the accuracy is awesome.

There are .22 conversion kits for 1911s and CZs available also.

I thought the Para triggers were really good ?? wrong ??? I am surprised at teh response. I guess maybe springfield is the one in 45 if I go that way, but how does the CZ compare to the SIG as a 9mm pistol ??

People seem to have problems with Para's often but I haven't seen any complaints with Springfields.

for a 45, i went with a dan wesson pointman 7. Very happy with the fit, finish and accuracy. the springfield loaded frame is made in brazil i think, just beware, the fit may be a bit sloppy. if you want a nice quality pistol at affordable price id go with cz in 9. by the way, Dan Wesson is now under CZ. for a high quality 1911 45 you'd be looking at spending about $1500.

The wonderful thing about Tigger, is Tigger's a wonderful thing! :p

Funny guy,who's a funny guy....

You do know that you'll end up with both, right? I got a CZ75B in .40S&W as my first auto and am very happy with it,they'll make you look good, easy to hit with, only gripe is the small slide, can be a little hard to rack when your hands are cold or wet.

And later got a good deal on a Springer 1911 G.I. and it's O.K. if they rattle abit, their a combat pistol, thats how J.M.B. designed them.,you can't beat the feel of a nice 1911 in your hand. and the .45ACP isn't that tought to shoot ,as some would have you beleive.

Both are good , the 9mm might be the better way to go if you want to shot lots

STI Spartan should fit the bill for a .45, waaay less than suggested $1500 and is a very good gun/shooter.
CZ 75B is a very solid gun as well.

Try a CZ75 Shadow. I'm hoping to have one by the end of the month. Supposed to have an excellent trigger, and very accurate. Much, much cheaper to feed than a .45.

From your list, I highly recommend a CZ 75B from my heart, I have one 9mm with satin nickel finish and is a true beauti shooting iron. 1911 is also a must have if you ever want one, take a look at those STI 1911's.

hmmm now I am confused. I used to own a CZ75B it was ok but I did not think the trigger was that great, however what do I know, maybe that is how it is ??

The trigger on the springfields appeared smoother to me. What about SIG ?? or maybe I am way off Walther P99 maybe ??

I need advice obviously cause I have no clue.

There isn't many stock gun can give you light and smooth trigger unless custom gun or you pay for trigger job. Shadow has a smoother trigger than the 75B and normal SP0, well worth to take a look.

I have shot a 38 super in the para for the past five years in IPSC matches. I have found the gun reliable and accurate. As a speed gun, it is suited for the job. im not sure as to what your purpose is but the 1911 in the 45 ACP is fine if you have handled one before but to start get the 9mm to start. always room for more guns :)

cheers
