'What to do in a jam'

Step 6: Throw rifle down and draw your handgun or pick up enemy's AK and carry on.

Step 7: If you survived, pick up rifle and wrap it around tree so it will never function again.

Step 8: Go back to HQ, tell them you lost rifle and get a new one, also pick up a cleaning kit while there.

That manual is for M16A1 that was already issued with cleaning kit it has trap door in butt stock for it. Forward assist is the feature of A1 not present on earlier rifles that were non chrome lined and had the bad rap. edgewater buffer would cause rifles to run faster and overheating in full auto. which was one of the causes of a jam
