Well, I've got a little bit of money tucked away, and instead of wasting it, I thought I'd pick up another firearm. I seem to "rent" guns more than own them (bit of a revolving door here:redface:)...so, I want to get something I can resell without losing my shirt. I'm really not that big on Chinese guns, but I understand for the price they do a pretty good job. I shoot mostly 9mm (I already have a Glock), but I'm drawn to CanadaAmmo's good deals. I know .40 is cheaper to shoot than .45, but I have never really gotten into the Sig thing at all. I like the look of 1911, but I find they do not fit my hand very well (when I shoot, my hand seems to disengage the rear safety...). What a choice! Or maybe, I should just go with a Grizzly 12.5 with ghost rings...what do you folks think?

why go with a 1911 clone if the 1911 platform doesnt suit your hands? (maybe it's your technique) and why go with a sig clone since you've never "gotten into sig thing at all" and bother with a chinese manufactured gun you're "really not that big on"?
i don't understand your post quite frankly... do you want a gun or not?

Well, I haven't had great luck with the 1911 (I always have to have the rear safety pinned). I really have no experience with the Sigs - maybe I should rephrase my question - would the NP58 be a good gun to try and see if the Sig thing is for me, or is the 1911 style still the better gun of the two? Or, should I just buy the Grizzly and say to hell with the handguns (maybe neither one are worth it).

And honestly, my first line said it all - I have some money tucked away and I want to buy a gun that I can resell and not lose my shirt - ie, if I don't like it, I can sell it and move on. Does that make things a little easier to understand?

it does, but still since you cant handle the 1911 desing you should definitely avoid it?

as to the NP58 do soem search on the forum there has been numerous talks about it... the newer batches have a cracking frame issue FIXED, so if you decide to eventually get one, get a new one...
my 0,02$

Before you buy, do you know anybody who has either of what your thinking of buying? Ask around the club and see, maybe somebody can let you give them a whirl to see if they are your thing?

I've been reading the reviews on the NP58, but the info is pretty thin compared to CanAm's 2 1911's. I guess you folks are kinda pointing out what I really should already know - the 1911 is not really a gun that is for me. I would like to eventually get a real Sig, but hate to spend that much money on a gun I have not handled much. I was hoping some NP58 owners would speak up here - and do the Sig parts fit (ie the .22 conversion kit, grips, mags, sights)? I see people have asked these questions in other threads, but I can't seem to find the answers - or at least, I can't seem to find a solid answer.
Perhaps I should just ditch getting either pistol and get the shotgun instead - man, who would of thought it would involve this much thinking!:)

We'll be up and running CDP in January again you can try my Springfield and Norinco 1911 then.

If you want to get something where you can try it and resell if it's not for you then you should be buying used. Buy a new but cheap gun is fine at first glance but you'll just lose money on it when you sell it. Far better to buy a quality name used and sell it for very close to what you paid.

Have you had a chance to try a CZ75 or SP-01 at all? Or perhaps you're actually a revolver guy but you just don't know it yet?

I am with BCRider, if you plan for resale incase you don't like it, a good used quality gun will turn you to keep them or resale for the same among of you paid. As for the Norinco 1911, they have very fast resale record when there is a slow boat from China, you won't lose money on that gun but it will also give you a chance learn to due with 1911 design.

Tell that to the buyers of:
-$99 Nork Toks
-$149 Nork .22 Woodsman
-$399 Nork M-14s
-$325 Nork 1911's
-$349 Nork 9mm 1911's
-$349 Nork .40 Sig NP-58

Etc.

Low outlay, guaranteed money back when you sell. Caveat: Buy from a CGN sponsor, not the Vancouver gunshop that will remain nameless :)
