What to do with a 12(6) S&W?

Elderly family member has a 12(6) Smith & Wesson 39-2 that we need to find a new home for before his PAL expires later this year. Would really hate to have to turn it over the the RCMP. It cannot be passed down to me, tried the local gun shop but they don't touch anything restricted or prohibited, no luck at the local gun show this year, and I'm not allowed to post it in the EE because I don't own it. I know a lot of 12(x) capable people don't like to broadcast that information... How does one go about finding a suitable home for a 12(x) firearm in this circumstance? Are there any members on here that open state they are looking to add to their collections? Are there retailers that will buy? Rather sell it outright than consign it just for expediency's sake.

Handgun is a Smith & Wesson 39-2, looks like there are two mags for it. Said to be lightly used and has been in storage and not been fired for many years. Looks to be in pretty good shape but I'm no expert. Has to be sold on an as-is basis as there is no way we are going to get it out to the range. It was suggested that it would sell somewhere in the $300-$400 range.

Found a new home for it, thanks to all who passed along their wisdom!

Was in the same situation. Sold a half-dozen prohibs on the EE. Although I had to sell them instead of being able to keep them, at least they went into the hands of others, were not destroyed, and a few bucks went to the estate.

PS: set up a CGN account for the executor of the estate or have the executor name you as the person responsible to sell them. That was good enough for the RCMP and for CGN (and yes, I did inquire to both to obtain clarification and required permission).

List it on EE for $300. It might sell at that price. If not, change to $250.

I find that quality 12.6 pistols actually sell in the $250 to $300 range.

I sold a mint 639 on EE for $350 and I would consider it a more desirable pistol than the M39, so $300 would be a good price to ask.

You had better reread the original post, it is not a estate gun.
Well.s, I sent you a P.M.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes it is not an estate gun. Cannot be passed on to me. I cannot post it in the EE because I don't own it, already checked that with the admins. Not really interested in spending the money to rebarrel it, I have a number of other handguns already that I never shoot so I would rather just see this go to a good home. If $300 is what it is worth than $300 is what it's worth, we are not looking for a huge profit on this, mostly just don't want to have to surrender it to the RCMP when his PAL expires later this year.

By the time you pay Irunguns fee and auction fees You may as well sell it here for a hundred bucks. They are plentiful in the states, for what it is, it would be more trouble than its worth. I have one and love it, it's actually a very sweet gun, but it is what it is. I tried to sell one of my other ones @ $350, and no takers. Mine has joined my stable of favourites.
