I might be getting a 1910 model Winchester SLR in .401.
I was wondering if there were any interesting (to a modern cartridge) conversions being done to these, something along the lines of the .351 to .357mag conversion.

I started looking into it, I know you can make brass out of 7.62 x 39, but I don't kno if it would be easier to rechamber to .41 mag and trim the rim down a little.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I think I would try 41 Mag shell just to see if it would chamber, the rim is bit large but it might work.
I made shootable ammo from 30-30 Winchester brass and 41 Mag bullets, it is not the greatest setup but it worked.
Not too sure how you go about converting 7.62X39 brass, like where do you get the rim from?

Shoot that .401

Just got a M1910 shooting again! For brass just neck up 7.62x39 you will have to trim a bit off of the web - haven't got the specs right now & then open up the extactor groove. You can also order from www.buffaloarms.com
50 reformed cases for $45 & they ship to Canada. They also have Redding dies $50 - $60. For bullets I got a Lee .401 bullets sizer & then honed it to size 41 mag bulllets - 210gr @ .410 dia down to .406 dia. Use H4227 or imr 4227. Make up some kind of brass catcher - it slings it!. Just changed my front sight & am going back to shoot again soon. With the old front sight it shot 4", I should be able to do a bit better with the new one. Tried lead 250gr from lyman mould #410426 sized to .407 but it left a pile of lead in the barrel & accuracy was terrible. Epps does have Barnes bullets 250gr. The 41 mag bullet sized down is the cheaper way to go!
