I have decided to sell of all handguns, related reloading supplies and cases. The issue I am facing is I have a great number of reloads that are complete and ready to fire. By my understanding it is illegal to resell these. What does one do with thousands of rounds of reloads?

Constructive advise is appreciated.

I don't know one way or another about illegal but liability may be a concern and unless the reloads are within SAMMI specs it may be hard to convince a buyer that they are safe to shoot.

One way may be to sell them with the written understanding that the buyer will pull the bullets and reassemble them to their liking with the powder of their choice? Hornady makes a good bullet puller.

Good luck with your sale and sorry to hear that you're pulling the pin on handguns.

Pulling the pin on handguns... sad but there is always good news related. This week I bought a small farm on the Bruce Peninsula, I have had enough of city life. No close handgun clubs, and really I never shot handguns much. I will be clay shooting from my back deck by the end of August. thanks for your reply.

buy a non restricted rifle in the same chambering, problem solved.............lots of critters on farmland to protect the family from

I'd keep at least one handgun. With the possibility of a change in gov't, keeping a restricted endorsement might be a good idea. Call me paranoid, but keeping one restricted might get you grandfathered like the 12.X guys, should a new gov't get cranky about issuing restricted licences.

If it was me, I would try to shoot them all before I sold the gun.

Failing that, I would sell them to Ganderite for the value of the cases and bullets, knowing that he would not cry about blowing up yet another gun...

Are you sure it's illegal? My father-in-law buys lot sales from auctions and private sales, some have reloads in them. He tries to get as much info on the load as possible. If you haved the load info, i'd think some guys would be willing to buy it.

You need a commercial license to sell reloads, so yes it's illegal if you don't have one.

If I was in your boat I'd be looking to set up my own pistol bay on my farm.
There is a bit of leg work with approvals and obvious construction costs of berming, but it would be worth it in the end, IMHO.

I like that idea of the handgun caliber NR rifle. Especially if it works out that you end up with a lever rifle.... :D

Congrats on making it to where you can buy and live on a bit of "The Dream". The Bruce is fantastic country.

As many others have stated, buy a NR rifle/carbine in the pistol cartridge of your choice. Barring that, you can always just drop the ammo off at your local RCMP detachment. I did that last week with a bunch of old ammo and my own personal reloads that I was too lazy to pull apart for components.
