What to do with a Vickers Empire (Martini Small Action).

The Subject:

It's in .22 LR. Bull barrel with no sights. I mostly shoot at gophers and other varmints on the Prairies. Don't target shoot. Always wanted a martini and the Price was right.

I was thinking I should take it to a gunsmith to have it rechambered to.22 WMR (my preferred varmint round) and have scope blocks/mounts put on. I realise I will need high scope mounts to able to have the Height to operate the Action.

What do you think? Ideas? Suggestions for equipment? Websites that refer to this kind of thing?

I would sell it to a collector and buy a modern .22 mag rifle that was built for scope rings.

You have a Martini, use it as is & injoy. Rechambering it will kill collector value & not be the best for shooting. Marlin has some mags at decent prices.

Sell it to me. I have almost the exact same gun, and my stocks cracked, and mine has sights, I could make a beauty out of the two.

a great many 22lr's have been rechambered to 22 Magnum..my bother has a Cooey that was done years ago,

the .0015 or .002 doesn't mean much...raises pressure a bit in theory but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

how big is the bore on the Ruger Single Six?
