What to do with my broken sig 226?

So I was cleaning my old Sig 226 (serialed 120 ###) when I discovered a very long crack (2.5") following the rail on the frame. It's cracked all the way through. I think it's gonna have to be retired. Any suggestions with what to do with it? (given that it indeed cannot be fixed).

I don't want to get rid of it since it was my first handgun. At this point would it be still be blasphemous to have it deactivated so I can still keep it and possibly display it without having to deal with the storage laws?

Any other suggestions what to do?

Thanks for the tips guys. Unfortunately I don't have access to a camera right now save for a crappy webcam which probably wouldn't show the crack.

you know its to bad you couldnt just cut off the remaining rail and use the newer norinco locking insert with the steel rail. that idea did get me flamed at sigforum though.
it was just an idea of what to do to keep a sig running even after the rail cracks, they didnt like the idea.

just throwing ideas around :)

SIG will make you a new frame with the same number when you send it in. Colt used to do the same thing.

What about buying a P226 classic .22? This way you will have two uppers in 9mm and .22.
I would imagine your upper would fit on P226 classic .22.

The replacement of the frame is the only way, if you were in the US i would have said contact Sigarms and they would have replaced the frame without any problem.

But!

You are in Canada!

And you know who is the official Canadian representative for Sig Sauer Pistols?

R. Nicholls in Quebec!

So unfortunately as long as these clowns are the official Sig Sauer Rep for Canada, nothing can be done!:(

R Nicholls can fix it for you no problem. I just sent in a Mosquito with a cracked slide and was told it would be just about 2 mere YEARS to get fixed! Or, the pistol can be shipped to SIG USA. Would cost a bunch of money for the US import and export documents but their turn around is far faster then up here.

Gee, if RNicholls told you 2 years, that means it won't be less than 4 years at the earliest, that's if they don't just outright loose it, or scrap it, at which point they'll question your sanity because they'll have no proof of receiving it.
