I've inherited a Rem 870 with barrel cut down to 18.5", which I guess makes it OC. It was used for bunny hunting at very short range, but I'd like to make it a bit more versatile, so I can hunt geese/turkeys as well. I've seen suggestions to add a PolyChoke or Cutts Compensator, but there also seems to be many opinions as to their effectiveness ( and appearance). They also seem to be a bit pricey. Maybe I'd be better off getting another barrel?

Yep! An inexpensive and effective way to kill waterfowl and turkeys. Your range with that 18.5 will be terribly short and with both waterfowl and turkeys, the more range your gun will give you, the better your chances of success.

Keep the 18.5 for deer hunting in the bush, or offer to trade with someone on the EE, then you won't have to spend a dime.
