So I am going to replace the chu wood finally. Got a USGI stock at ebay for a decent price. I have no idea other than the bedding from the sticky. Is there any metal I need to transfer from my old stock? What's the drill?

Fill in the selector cut-out if you prefer. Fill in the area near the op rod guide pin so it doesn't back out. Paint, drop in and shoot.

yup, like he said.
the only thing that MUST be done is the oprod spring guide pin area inside stock as if you don't.... this pin WILL move out and this is not good.
epoxy a popsicle stick against side wall of stock where pin is. This is the quik n easy method.... or use a quality epoxy putty.
No stock metal is required other than buttplate and sling loops

We're going to have to drag Hungry down to the Ottawa area again some time in the near future. I've been kicking myself in the butt for not being able to go to this clinic...:(

That makes three of us then.

Hungry here: Yeah, I hear you guys. At least Ottawa is my 2nd home having spent at least 5 weekends in the spring, summer and fall at Connaught. Hey, I was just at the Sens/Penguins game last weekend 1 Mar, when the Sens beat the Pens 5-4 on the Sat aft game at 3PM. At least in Ottawa, I can always get up here from the Collingwood area.

Okay, I don't want to hijack this thread, so it's back to the USGI stock fun.

Would someone please post a pic of their stock with the recoil spring guide rod retaining pin side filled in with the epoxy? Wow, that was a long sentence.:dancingbanana:

Filip, there's pictures on Skullboy's FAQ at the top. However, if you remove your trigger assembly and view the rifle from beneath, you can clearly see the cross pin that retains the op rod spring guide and where it would bare against the stock.

The usgi oprod spring guide pin in several milimeteres longer and slightly larger than the norc pin. Using emery cloth to polish the usgi pin is generally all that is needed for it to fit the norc receiver. These 2 pics show the modifications I do to the usgi fiberglass stocks.
1) oprod spring guide pin area is filled
2)selector hole area is filled
3) area in forstock at forward end of magwell, reinforced and raised to meet forward end of receiver, *** and clearanced for oprod/barrel
4) top surface of action area, receiver bearing areas filled and beveled to 10 degrees as per the m14 kuhnhaussen shop manual.

Norc pins are 5 MM in diam, or about .008" SMALLER than the orginal US GI Pins. Your local bike shop probably has some very high quality 5 MM rod lying around for cheap ... they call it a mountain bike axle. You can chop up some 5 MM rod, or you can order a genuine M-14 part from the US [ and discuss that deal with homeland INsecurity ].
