The rifle has a 22 inch barrel and a 1:9.25 twist. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with this rifle and calibre combo. I want to hunt white tail. Looking for bullet weight info that would be best for that twist and barrel length and if anyone has any Data that they worked out for theirs.

Thanks in advance.

And because most people like posts with pics.

For .243 and white tail I like Barnes 85gr TST, 90gr Accubond, or 100gr Speer Grand Slam. They all shoot very good and hold together to blow nice holes through them.

I haven't made a load yet that shot as good as Winchesters 100 grainers in my 243 axis but I still try , mostly 95 grain sst's

You might want to look at getting some lens cleaner for that scope.... It looks like a bit of water spotting / grunge on the eyepiece end of it.
Sorry, can't offer any suggestions about bullet weights.....

I run the 105gr A-max with a stiff load of H-1000 in my savage lrp with 9 1/8 twist factory barrel with great result's. I Have found that I need to push them pretty hard or group's start to open up. But I have tested them to 500 yard's so far and they are holding sub-moa and that's on a real calm day. I will stretch her leg's a bit when I get a chance.

Thanks. I have some h1000 specifically for the 100+ grainers

For those who are wondering, I have one of these and load the 105 A-Max. They shoot really well. I tried H1000 and it was good but settled on Hybrid 100V as it was even better. Hope that helps.

If you want to shoot factory loads Winchester 100 gn soft points work awesome. If we load we use Sierra 100 gn soft points. Both shot 3/4" or better out of the Axis I had.

With a 22" barrel you might find better result's with a faster burn rate, I had good result's also with H-4350,IMR-5350 ,4451 and 4831 powder's. Good luck & remember to play safe.

a load I would not recommend, 62gr barnes over 43.5 4350. Made up 10 rounds this morning, first 8 were ok, primer slightly flattened. Number 9 was interesting,.

where the loads with federal brass ?

while not as extreme I have done something similar when working up a load with ( let say ) Remington brass , and a federal brass accidently slips in

It was all federal brass. I have used the same load before in FC brass and also in Imperial brass. I don't know the cause, I am very careful weighing powder to 1/10 grain or less, and always visibly check powder levels in cases before seating the bullets. Obviously I screwed up somewhere. Powder overload that I missed. Maybe after 50 yrs reloading I got complacent. Fortunately the cheap axis seems to have a strong action. Headspace is still good.

I had the same problem with a 25-06 using FC brass 3 good loads and #4 blew the primer...........I too check powder levels under a light and most of my loads approach 100% loading density so they are easy to see any differences. So I weighed the cases and found something like 18 gns difference from light to heavy in 40 cases all of the same lot..........Threw them out and got some W-W cases to continue on with. I won't use FC brass for any rifle loads at all any more......too soft and too inconsistent.

Did not intend to hijack OP's original thread.
I have been using 41gr 4350 with 85 gr Nosler which is a couple of grains under max in the Lyman manual. Around 1" at 100.

c-fbmi I just weighed 10 other cases, all were 172-175gr. The blown case weighs 163.4
