What to get for a Varmit rifle?

I love my Savage in 204....A joy to shoot and the most accurate gun I have buy a long shot..

Yes, I love my 204 too. But I'm not sure it'd be my first choice for the really longs shots.

Mayby its just semantics, but I've always considered a 22 to be a varmint rifle, and in recent years some of the centre fire 22's. I use a 243 for sheep and antelope.

True, 22's are most useful as varmint rifles. But a ket ingredient of a good varminting rig is hitting what you aim at. And your chances of doing that are much higher with a 6mm if you're shooting at distance. A 22's capable at LR, but a 6mm is better
