I am kinda jonesing for something new

I have the requisite Glock 17 its not bad I don't like how it feels in the hand tho and to be honest I only really got it because I have a FX-9 so a ton of magazines for the 17 and who doesn't have a 17, I also have a P226 which is awesome all around the gun I dreamed about owning growing up. I definitely think my tastes are for metal and decocker handguns over striker fired. Then I picked up a CZ 97 it's also a decocker model and that is again awesome and 45acp which is making me kinda want a CZ 75 in 9mm now. But I have also been thinking about a 1911 because they look so sweet and so customizable, I have never had a handgun with a safety tho so I am not sure I like that over the decocker and I am not sure about getting another striker fired there is just something about hammer fired guns that make me smile.

For 1911 I keep seeing those Canuck ones black with red grips they seem to have some nice upgrades over stock like the rails, skeletonized hammer and trigger and the extended palm safety I have been watching a bunch of 1911 videos I can find very few reviews on them in fact only 1 guy from years ago so they seem to be a step up from the norinco which are pretty basic but people do like them the amount of customization for a 1911 is extreme and there is just sooooo many options of makes and models the rock island ones also seem to be a nice one.

For the CZ I really kinda like the SP-01 Tactical again because of the decocker, and full dust cover but then there is the omega convertible is also a nice one and then there is the P-09 the only downside is a lot less customization options with the CZ but wow are they a nice gun tho

I am just not sure which one to get lol I am leaning to a 1911 for the customizing I love to tinker with my guns but the whole safety seems wrong on a handgun and that Canuck with the red grips in 9mm looks very nice arrrrrgh not sure lol the CZ 75 sp-01 or omega are right there too and the P-09 seems like a hell of a deal at 600ish for what you get

You know, the wonderful thing about this site is the EE, you can buy, try and sell if you don't like. Buying on the secondary market makes for little loss if you decide to flip a pistol that you don't like. The three suggestions I would make are the Sig P320 which is striker fired but very modular and highly customizable, The HK USP/P30/HK45 series. They are available in DA/SA Decocker/safety configurations and are excellent pistol. Not so customizable and after market support is scarce but they are super accurate and fun to shoot. Lastly a 1911, but a decent one. You can find a very decent one for $1000-$1500 with all the nice features like Kimber, Sig, Springfield, Dan Wesson etc. I have a Sig Nitron R that I picked up on the EE for $925 and it is fantastic.

You seem to be gravitating towards a 1911. Great choice. Not for everyone, but everyone should buy one and try.
I’d suggest that you start with a plain Jane Mil-spec 1911 in 45. The Springfield Mil-Spec is a great buy for the money and you won’t have issues selling it if doesn’t suit you. So much you can do with it.
Pass on the integral rails and hyped up do-dads that make the gun heavy and ruins its nostalgia.
If you like it, armed with knowledge, do some work to it. It’s the best way to learn about your gun. It’s function, the intricate parts working in sync. It’s an art.
Easy to go down the 1911 rabbit hole. :)

Have you checked out the Jericho 941?

It's an Israeli made CZ75 platform by the company that produces the desert eagle, Tavor and Galil. I have one in a set of Hogues grips and its hands down my favorite semi ever.

They take CZ75 spring kits, have a handful of holster and grip options, are extremely heavy (in all the nicest ways) and I've put every type of ammo I can find through mine (115-147 gr, brass and steel case, FMJ and JHP) and have never had a stoppage.

They also come with a very aggressive decocker and I like mine a lot. It's one of the very few pistols I've ever held and shot that felt like a "real gun" and not undersized. Always found 1911's too skinny to grip right.

...not for the smaller handed individuals though for sure, it's definitely a *large* pistol...

If you wanted a fun tinker project you could get a 9mm 941, put a DPMS recoil rod and CZ75 upgraded spring kit in one and the 9mm and 40 S&W use the same frame so you could have a more uniquely upgraded pistol with a great track record with a drop in caliber conversion kit(you'd just need to track down a 40 S&W barrel and mag and you'd be in business)...for less $$$ than half of what the old 1911 farts put into their arthritis cannons.

1911's are like wranglers or civics IMO, there's ten thousand upgrade pieces available to customize every single aspect of them in every way so they end up looking exactly like everyone else's super ultra personalized custom clone of what everyone else has...

No wheel gun?

The safety on the 1911 is perhaps the most ergonomic safety to disengage and re-engage. With practice it will become second nature to wipe it off as you extend the pistol to firing position and to reengage when you are done and ready to reholster.
