So it has come to the time to make the decision on what die set to get. I have a target 308 rifle that i will be reloading for, I have a set of hornady full length dies as is. I was looking at getting the lyman carbide deluxe die set. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B006QIPVMM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB

I want to be able to learn how to load match rounds for my rifle. i know there are a few other toys i need to get but dies are the first go
Not sure what to get i have read a lot since my last post. it was a lot to digest and still looking for tips from you guys. I would love to get a set of the competition but they are out of my price range. what you guys think?

Save up for a set of Redding dies, they are well worth the money if you are looking to make top quality match ammo. Not saying that you can't make good ammo with other dies but the Redding die are very easy to work with if you want to change your seating depth by one thousands of an inch or .200" of an inch.

I would recommend either redding or forster. I have both, redding for my 223 and forster for the 308. Both have micrometer seaters. I want the most accurate ammo possible and these brands seem to stand above the rest. This isn't me saying other brands aren't accurate. My 308 lee dies did just fine. I prefer forster over all others so if I want accurate rounds and forster makes dies for that caliber, that's what I buy

i guess i should add that i have a $100 promotion from amazon that has to be used on items that are sold but amazon. which is why i have been looking on there. Im still wandering about the full or neck sizing. this set has both.

If you have a set of hornady full length dies, why not just add a neck die? Lee Collett works well. Why is your current set of 308 dies no good?

I appreciate a credit to amazon, but don't settle on something just because they sell it.

Forster competition FL and seating dies, Lee neck sizing collet die, Redding body die. IMHO best combo for $$ out there. Get yourself a way to measure runout, and length from base of brass to bullet ogive. Enjoy!!
