What to look for in a bear defense shotgun?

If you fired a gun in space, would you have to shoot a shot behind you to slow yourself down? Someone needs to design a space gun and patent it, because eventually it will be required. Basically, you're looking for something with no recoil, or a gun that can use the recoil to keep you in one place. Without gravity, you might not have to worry so much about bullet drop, but accuracy will still be important. Will powder burn without oxygen?

oh yes, bears snack on dandelions. They were just gathering their strength to attack your family!!

I guess I shouldnt be surprised when people misinterpret the tone of an electronic message. Ahh well....Anyways, dead horse etc etc but I actually learnt alot from this post and have had 0 success using search for anything on this forum.

Bears are actually opportunistic omnivores and direct predatory attacks, while not unheard of, are rare. If you really want to get freaked out before going into the bush read the “Embrace of the Bear”

BTW a 590 A1 with a 20 inch ported barrel and 9 shell capacity is a nice firearm to have in the wilderness. It also comes with a bayonet so you can stab yourself before the bear eats you if you miss 9 times. LOL.

...and it's perfect for bear defense.

On all my wilderness canoe trips, some of them in the territories I have never personally ever had a bear problem.

There is only two things you need to consistantly do.

1. rub cod liver oil on your companions boots every morning.
2. make absolute sure you can run faster than him/her.

Works like a charm!:D

x2. I heard this method works very well and should become the default response to these threads in the future.
