What to use for RFB Optics?

I'm looking for quality and effectiveness with the provision that the scope cost no more than a grand. If Vorex can do it at $200, great. But I get the impression that with scopes you generally get what you pay for.

Again, thanks everybody for the advice. Beyond the look cool factor, how do your scopes perform? What groupings do you pull down? And like Epoxy7 is it easy to acquire a target with minimal strain?

I would normally agree with your " get what you pay for" statement, but Vortex does not fall into that category. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a bit of an optic snob (5 Elcans, 4 aimpoints, 2 eotechs, and 1 acog) but I would have zero reservations in using a Vortex. Vortex optics value are well beyond their price point.

Your either VERY wealthy OR your not married....:D

That is an impressive list of high end optics...

Have you considered the PST line from Vortex? I mounted a 2.5-10x44 on my 700P as I use it for hunting and intermediate range out to 500m. The low magnification is great for closer shots especially in wooded area with the wide field of view and 10x is plenty of magnification out to 500m or at least that's what I find. The scope works fantastic: nailed a bear, a moose and a 'yote with it in the last month. More details and a a little comparison shown here:

I find it great and it is in the $700-800 range depending on options. The way I see it if Rick at ATR (he is rumoured to know a little about long range shooting and optics :D) endorses these scopes then they are certainly worth it. This is my first Vortex scope (I have four other Vortex products though: 3 Strike Fires and a Sparc) and I truly find it great. As a matter of fact my second PST for my precison AR15 is now on route.

I decided to order a Burris Fastfire II from Lebarons.

They have SUPER good deal on right now.

$229.

I am going to piggy-back it on top of the Burris Fullfield II 3x9 B.Plex with a a PEPR mount.

IF I don't like the Burris I will probably replace with Leupold Delta Point or possibly something from Trijicon.

I think the 3x9 Burris will be perfect out to 300 yards for everything from Varmints to Deer, Elk or Moose.
