This may seem like a silly question, but what do you guys use to plug your muzzle so you can fill it with cleaning solution? I remember we had little stoppers in highschool chemistry class that would be perfect, but I have no idea where to buy them.

Suggestions? I thought of using saran wrap and a rubber band but I don't think that would work very well.

Crap, my mistake - I meant to put this in general, not gunsmithing. Sorry :(

I just crammed a bunch of patches in my chamber and filled from the muzzle end. It worked fine and didn't leak. It came out later looking like a, uh...tampon.

Certain types of disposable foam earplugs will work.

For rubber stoppers, try Home Depot/Rona, etc. They might have something in the plumbing Dept.

FWIW, the foam earplugs also work VERY well in the muzzle when painting your barrel.........

SKBY.

you can also use those little rubber caps used to keep debris out of fittings like brake lines air lines and the like, just find one that fits sortta snug over the barrel and then heat with a hair dryer for a couple of seconds the heat will shrink it tite around the muzzle

Rather than a cleaning solution what about one of those expanding foam cleaners, just shoot it in from the chamber, let it expand and the excess drop out the muzzle on to the shop floor or a catch bucket, leave it in there for 20 minutes to a day and then remove, and wipe clean.
