Hello fellow gunnutz! I am here today to do some simple research on the pulse of you shooters.

I hope this is allowed for me to inquire in this way to canvas your opinions of what you would like to see or try. I apologize if this isn't allowed.

I have been given a unique opportunity to equip an indoor shooting facility with various fire arms! Talk about a fun project! woohoo!!!

The top rated handguns that I see here and at a few other sites will help me choose the handguns we will include in the facility to rent to customers to shoot on our range. I won't advertise the name of the business, but just want to see what you guys think would be the best to have a chance to shoot.

I am curious of what the top10 hand gun picks would be.
What make/models, calibers etc.

Thank you in advance guys, and I look forward to your input!

A couple of guns come to mind. I'm going to include the SBR in my list.

1. Sig MPX 9mm
2. Evo Scorpion 9mm
3. Ruger Super blackhawk 44 mag
4. Desert Eagle 357 or 44
5. CZ SP-01 in 22 LR
6. 92A3
7. 1911 45 acp
8. Sig P320
9. Uberti 1873 45 colt
10. Glock 22 (40cal) + 9mm conversion barrel

1. Browning 1911-22 A1 Compact
2. Polymer 9mm (Sig, Glock, whatever)
3. Sig P226 with multiple slides - 9mm / .40 S&W / .357 Sig / .22lr
4. Glock 10mm
5. 1911 .45acp
6. CZ SP01 Shadow 9mm
7. FN FiveSeven
8. Modern revolver in 357 magnum
9. Historical revolver (something like Uberti 1873 45 colt)
10. Desert Eagle with multiple slides, .44 and .50

For bonus points, a carbine like the Sig MPX in 9mm, and a Mares Leg.

I put the FN FiveSeven in for fun, that could be replaced with a "non 1911" .45acp, say a Sig P220 or FN FNX

Assuming if rentals these aren't necessarily aimed at current gun owners.
Anything from the movies
Desert Eagle .50AE
Beretta 92FS
Glock 17/19
Couple of Revolvers like Easy Rider mentioned GP100 357 mag and a SW Model 629 44 mag
Sig P226
1911 in 45 of course
Kriss Vector and the Sig MPX 9mm & Evo Scorpion 9mm as roadcarver suggested.
Walther PPK, other 'spy' style guns

I'd be giddy to walk into a range and see that line up

It sort of depends on the purpose of the facility?
Is 10 your limit? Is it a retail location as well - try before you buy?
Does the Hollywood factor come in effect - Dirty Harry, John Wick..?
If you're just looking for a fun mix, get your standard Sigs, Glocks, H&K, CZ, 1911's in various calibers... Desert Eagle .50, S&W 500. 9mm carbine....
Damn. 10 is a small list. I want all of the guns :)

I've done this before. Here's what I would suggest. Generics as much as possible. Range guns don't get cleaned much so reliability is a must and durability also.
1. 1911 in .45ACP.
2. S&W 686 6" or Ruger GP.
3. S&W M29/ 629. .44mag
4. Desert Eagle in .50AE
5. Glock 17
6. SIG P226 9mm
7. Ruger Mk. III
8. Beretta 92 9mm
9. HK USP in .40
10. CZ 75 ( only real gun lovers will try a CZ) It's not a popular TV gun.

It is so difficult to limit the list to 10 guns, but yes, Still Alive nailed it. These 10 are the most iconic handguns for the average man on the street, or even an enthusiast.

I'd say get the Ruger GP100 instead of the 686. It will probably be shot with .357 mag ammo mostly, and the GP100 just loves to be abused.

10 rental guns will look pathetic in the rental display case. DVC in Port Coquitlam, BC has a lot more.

1. .22lr revolver
2. .357 revolver
3. .44mag revolver
4. .45 long colt revolver
5. .44 black powder like a remy 1858 new model army.
6. .22lr pistol Browning?
7. 9mm tupperware
8. 1911 GI
9. 10mm colt delta elite
10. DE 50ae

if permitted, I would add a coonan .357 pistol.
a snub nose revolver
a .410 pistol snake gun
a derringer

1. Sig X5
2. S&W Model 41
3. 1911 10 mm Long Slide
4. 1911 9 mm
5. Pardini GT9
6. HK USP Expert
7. S&W 686 357 Revolver
8. S&W 500
9. Sig P220 45 ACP
10. Sig P320

Not necessarily in that order, but those are the guns I prefer to take to the range.

Let's see if I can do this: Top ten?
1. Colt 1911 5" Government
2. Colt 1911 Commander
3. Colt 1911 MARSOC
4. Colt 1911 Railgun
5. Colt 1911 Delta Elite in 10 mm (this one really oughta count for two or three choices .... especially with full-house 200 grain Norma loads)
6. Dan Wesson Valor
7. Wilson Combat 1911
8. BCM 1911 (Larry Vicker's specimen)
9. Ed Brown 1911
10. Colt 1911 Government (Did I say that already?)

Here is my list of guns I would want to see at a range in no particular order:

1. Steyr m9
2. Jericho 941
3. any 1911 including the Coonan .357 mag 1911 and double 1911
4. sig 226
5. sig 320 or 250
6. CZ75
7. Any .357 revolver preferably smith or ruger
8. Any .44 magnum revolver preferably smith
9. Desert Eagle .50AE
10 Any single action revolver

a glock could also replace anything on the list

Some non pistol wants:

1. Scorpion EVO
2. SIG MPX
3. M84 Škorpion

Would also like to add: any and all prohib guns. Would love to see a range that allows 12.6 guns to be rented. I would not care if some old, fat, sweaty guy has to stand right behind me. It would be worth it.

1. CZ Shadow 2
2. Ruger SR1911 in 45
3. Ruger GP100 6 inch
4. SIG P226
5. SIG P250
6. Desert Eagle (big caliber)
7. Jericho Poly or full metal
8. Tanfoglio - recent model
9. SIG X5
10. some recent Beretta

I do not want to see Glock 17 at all as a choice there ;)

Look at it this way.

If you had offerings in the following ctg. 45COLT, 45ACP, 44MAG, 357MAG, 40S&W, 9mm, 380auto, 22LR, you only have a chance to double up on 2 samples and I would say that should be 9mm, maybe one steel and one polymer sample. The 380auto should be something exotic like a prohib PPK.

Go for the most widely recognized samples. Glock, S&W, Colt, Walther etc. and make sure SAA is covered.

Just MHO,

M

What I would like to see (and the reason behind it):

- 1911 45ACP
- Glock (polymer striker fired 9mm)
- Walther Q5 with a RDS (more competition oriented than Glock)
- CZ SP01 Shadow, Shadow2, or a Tanfo (metal DA/SA 9mm with great ergonomics and trigger)
- Sig P226 or 229 in 357 sig (rare caliber, more kick/snappier than a 9mm)
- 357 Mag or 44 Mag revolver (S&W or Colt)
- 22lr Ruger Mark something
- HK P7M8 (just love the P7, and it's a marvel of engineering)
- Desert-Eagle .50AE (no need to explain that one lol )
- FN Five-seveN

You need something reasonable priced and capable to withstand lots of rounds without much maintenance/ repair.
My list would be:

1. Glock 17 -two or three of them (they seem to be most popular at our local range)
2. A couple of metal frame 9mm – Sig 226 or any CZ. (the next most popular choice)
3. 357 Mag revolver – SW or Ruger
4. Two 22 LR pistols – preferably Ruger MK something – they will last forever without much maintenance.
5. Reliable 1911 in 45ACP – any mid-level brand would do.
9. Polymer 9mm other than Glock – M&P or something else
