What trigger pull weight are you running?

I'm wondering what everyone is running for trigger pull weight on their hunting rifles?

I had originally tried 2lbs on the new Jewell HVR. I loved the feel but it would trip when I cycled the bolt hard.

So I upped it to 2.5lbs and it didn't fire when I cycled hard, dropped the gun from 12" or when moving the safety on and off.

Is 2.5lbs considered acceptable or would you recommend I go to 3lbs?

It doesn't matter what the weight is... if it does not go off when you don't want it to... and you like how it feels ... then it is good.

I hunt with a 2 pound factory 700 trigger that works great as I am used to light triggers... I have had some guys try it and they hardly get their finger on the trigger and it fires... no sensitivity at all... they were used to 6 pound pulls and thought they were fine...

I think the majority of hunters are happy with a 3 to 4 pound pull... but I do set a lot of triggers at 2.5 to 3 pounds...

I use three pounds on my hunting rifles. I had a 700 with a 2.5 lb triger but if you smacked the butt on the ground it would go off. Not safe so now its a smooth crisp three lbs.

Very light triggers belong on the target range, not in the bush IMHO. Once you see your game in your sights, and your adrenaline gets pumping, your trigger could be 12lbs and you would never realize it.

I intensely dislike creepy triggers, and this to me is a bigger problem than trigger weight. I've sold some otherwise very nice rifles, like my Tikka Continental because I could get rid of the creepy trigger.

I like to have my target and varmint rifle triggers as light as is prudently safe. I've never weighed them, but I know they are less than 3 pounds, but the trigger must hold when the rifle is submitted to the drop test (a 1 foot drop onto the butt on a hard surface). At the same time I don't have to touch the side of the trigger in order to safely feel the contact.

My big game rifles are probably in the 3.5 pound range, and that works for me. When your hands are numb with cold and you are in a state of heightened adrenaline, that is not the time for a very light trigger.

I like 4-5 lbs on a shotgun, 3-4 lbs on a hunting rifle, 2 lbs on a target rifle & 11/2 -2 lbs on a Semiauto competition pistol. Really I find creep to be more of an issue than weight.

I use everything from 3lb. triggers to single sets .
The only concern I have is the same as already voiced by many - won't go off even when bumped, and does not creep.
My hawken has an L&R double set that is so light when it is set you can breathe on it and it will go.
It WON'T however, if pushed sideways, or if the rifle is bumped, same as my kipplinger.
generally I like about 2lbs ...
