Hi

I am thinking of buying either STI RangerII or Para Ordanace PXT 1911 as my first 1911 type pistol.

I know that STI Ranger comes in bull barrel but I couldn't find out if Para PXT is either bushing or bull barrel.

May be I am concerning too much over something that isn't that important but I was told that bull barrel is better than bushing barrel in terms of accuracy and durability.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was told that bull barrel is better than bushing barrel in terms of accuracy and durability.

I don't think that such a generalization is accurate.

A bull barrel does add weight toward the muzzle end of the pistol. This weight may reduce recoil and it may reduce muzzle flip. Reduced recoil and reduced muzzle flip may increase the potential practical accuracy.

I couldn't find out if Para PXT is either bushing or bull barrel.

In any event, the pistol depicted here has a barrel bushing.

Which one?

The Para guys do use both methods for lockup, but I believe that the PXT 9mm has a bushing.
I have yet to see a heads-up direct competition for bull barrel lockup vs. bushing barrel lockup. Sounds like a good challenge.
Both of the guns you mention are quality. Either would be a good choice.
