What type of lead do I have?

I just picked up a door lined with 1/8" lead plate. It was used in a docters office. Any idea what type or mix of lead this would be.Is there any home test I could use or should I even bother. I will be casting for a Lee slug mould.

Good find!

Should be some of the purest (softest) lead that you will ever find. Perfect for black powder stuff and I would think great for slugs as well. A tiny bit of tin added might help the mold fill out a little better if thats a problem.

Never thought of that! I saw some old x-ray aprons at the scrapyard a while back, owner was a bit cheesed because they were hidden in with other lead and he didn't want to pull them apart.
