What type of Log Book ?

There are a lot of good data books out there, Impact data books is a good one as well as storm tactical as tenguns said as well, you can custom build your own pages of what you want them to include. Or you can get the one inch binder and go on to shooting voodoo.com and print off pages as well to custom Taylor to what you want as well. I usually run a rough copy in the field on a smaller cool book then transfer my data to a hard copy later in the evening after my shooting excersises are complete, even if it seems to be the same old thing day to day it's nice to keep tabs on all of it as most environmentals change through out the day and tracking performance of a system is easier this way then just pulling at strings or guessing at what needs attention and what doesn't.

Ready-made logbooks will be filled with fields for data that you probably don't ever want to record. They are made to someone else's standards for someone else's ideal of what they need to be recording. You will have a bunch of pages that have a bunch of blank fields. A standard bound notebook is all that you need.

For the most part I agree with this post. There are certain things that can be standardized, but you'll never get it all into standard forms especially if you load your own ammo.

From time to time when out shooting I'll take a break and record what I'm thinking about. This might include comments on how the rifle is performing, how the load is performing, any theories that might explain the results regardless of how subtle. I make notes on what direction the bullet actually moves when the wind speed or direction changes, how much vertical I get when the range changes from sunny to cloudy, how I'm holding the rifle, hard hold, light hold forward load on the bipod or rearward... literally anything that I consider while it's fresh in my mind. I might also make notes on what others are using and how that seems to work for them.

No form is going to capture stuff like that. I just use a 8.5x11 3 ring binder (one for each rifle) with a mix of printed forms and blank sheets and use whatever applies. I do group in order by date so I can look back to see how things have developed over the years. BTW - this book is of great value to the guy who buys the rifle when you decide to move on. TIP: make a copy of everything before you hand it over.

Anyone using the Snipers Craft Data book or the Precision Rifle Data book?

Curious to see if they are recommended or not.

I use a rite in the rain 3x5 note boom for each rifle.
I bought a sniper data handbook that boasted 250 blank pages, but only 50 where the style I use. So I bought rite in the rain paper, copied the page I like and made my own book.

I do the exact same thing and keep track of what I need to keep track of without a bunch of useless pages I won't ever need.

We even make a Data Book cover that will fit the Rite In Rain 3" X 5" books......It will also fit the U.S Tactical Supply Sniper Log Book as well.
