12.5 inches is enough no ?

yeah that would do it just nicely... what sort of prices are you talking about? would like to buy an upper soon and the lower later... can you get the Noveske lowers though? Dont need a noveske pig can on the end either unless its a free option.. do the uppers come with all parts such as carrier, bolt, c-handle etc?

I'm pretty much set, but my brother is really jonesing for a 16" bull barrel AR set up like the RRA A4 Varmint Rifle.

I might make that my next project gun. Since I started building my own, I kinda' prefer going that route than buying pre-built uppers/lowers. Lets me enjoy the whole process that much more...plus the prices some guys are charging for uppers these days, especially without bolts/BCGs is getting kinda' ridiculous.

That said, I might break down and try a Noveske for Xmas to see what all the fuss is about, but I'm pretty happy with my LMTs, Colts and Stags right now.:D

I've been looking at my options for my next project.

I already have a 20" A2 Hbar, and the project that is 95% finished is a 10.5" shortie.

I am leaning towards a 16" in an A4 config (rail gas block), caliber wise I was thinking about 6.8SPC.
I've been floating the idea about doing more of the work myself this time.
Is a piston driven upper more difficult to work with than the regular gas tube style?
I have to save up the funds for it anyway, upcoming move takes precedence over everything for now, so I'll have the time to decide.
