Can anyone give me a velocity estimate for 75gr A-Max/24.4gr Varget? (edit: 26" 1:9)
I just want to estimate the drop at 200 and 300 yards if I zero at 100yards.

Thanks

For around $49 you can buy a refurbished chrony...

Estimating a velocity is kind of tough since velocity depends on everything from the lot number of each component to your firearm's internal dimensions.

I just thought someone with a similar load may be able to give me a velocity close enough for me to do a rough calulation for the drop, just to keep it on target.
I have a chrony but can't find it right now, as I just moved and ahven't unpacked everything. Turns out a friend is bringing his over right now though! :)

Thanks

Thanks for the help. The actual velocity (if you're interested) averaged 2923fps.

I used a program called "Point Blank" to aproximate the trajectory, and it was off by about 1" at 200 yards. Is this reasonable?
Is the JBM site any more accurate?

1" @ 200 is nothing when comparing an online estimation vs real life performance. Even the same model gun might be dead on or an inch the other way and you'd still call it good. I guess what I'm saying is that every single gun is a little different, so you can only get 'in the ballpark' until you actually get some real trigger time data.

2923 sounds fast to me, I thought it was more in the 27-2800 range. But that's just from memory.

Why don't you find a place where you can shoot out to 300 yards and find out what your rifle does? If you shoot the rifle at long range, record the pertinent data like temperature humidity, elevation, wind etc, you can make up your own drop table for each load. This data will be rifle and load specific and will be much more accurate than computer generated guess work. If you can't find a place to shoot out to 300 yards, it doesn't seem that you'll need to know the drop at 300.
