What was given to me?

Hey guys, i had this gun given to me by a family friend when i went home for christmas. He says it was given to him about 15 years ago, didn't know anything about it and it sat in his garage to rust away. Doing some research i think its a Carcano, possibly re-chambered to 6.5x54ms, and has a fancy set trigger.

Anyways, i figured I'd share some pics. I tore it down and did a real quick clean up on it, looks fun to shoot, but can't find ammo anywhere!

Anyways, have a look, let me know what you think, if you have any info on it that i might not know of (year, modle etc….) please share.

Bit of a refurb later'
 
You have a Cooey-Carcano. These are ex-Italian service rifles sporterized by Cooey, sold by Eatons in the early '30s. Quite a lot has been posted about them on CGN. If the bore is good, should be a decent hunting rifle.
Not entirely sure what the little lever is hanging down from the magazine. An added clip retainer?
