what was your first big rifle?

A sporterd up BSA No 1 Mk III my dad gave me when I was 13.

My first rifle that I bought myself was an M1 Garand, first brand new one a Win model 70 in 300 WM.

Model 1893 Marlin, Octagon 26" barrel in 30-30 Winchester [shoulda kept it!] Then a sporterized M17 30-06. A friend still owns the M17. Regards, Eagleye.

My Remington sportsman 76 pump in .30-06 Man I hated the way that thing felt when shooting it. My natural hand position for offhand shooting was in the magazine area. AND sometimes in a hurry, I often dropped the magazine on the ground by hitting the wrong release lever. The other one unlocks the slide action. BUT that gun is deadly accurate and I could easily ring the pig and chicken at 330 yards consistently. Very recently sold it and dont think I regret it too much.

My first big gun ever was my norinco m14. I had always shot intermediate rifle cartridges and pistol cartridges, never anything that doubled the rifle case sizes that I was used to.

Took out 140 rounds of 7.62X51 ball to the range and my arm was pretty sore afterwards, don't regret it at all as its a great rifle and great caliber.

336C marlin was the first rifle i bought with my lawn cutting $ over 2 summers.
I had to get my father to buy it for me and I think I payed 199.00 new in the box at Canadian Tire.

The first rifle I had was a savage 99C 308 gave to me by my Grandfather at Birth.

A Lithgow manufactured .303 no 5 jungle carbine at age eight.......my uncle snipped the firing pin so I utilised a piece of blunt nail and used the rifle as a single shot.
Eight year olds are such inventive little buggers...sneaky too !
