mine was a 6.5x55 swedish mauser 85yards about 15yrs old chest shot dead right there. the month before i had got my first with a bow. What was your first?

The first deer I shot was with a home made bow made out of a hockey stick handle -- Arrow whittled out of a piece of cedar fence post with the arrow head being a 30-30 casing flattened on and an anvil and sharpened with a file. It was a 4 point buck, I was 13 years old and my father kicked my ass because it out of season and on a anti hunters property.
