What Was your first deer shot with?

The first deer I ever shot was a small four point buck with my Remington 7400 30-06. I have purchased several other firearms over the years but every time I have this rifle in my hands something always walks out.

I shot my first deer, a mulie doe, at about 100 yards with Federal Premium 165 BTs (if I recall, the bullets were Sierra) out of my 700 ADL .30-06. It was a double lung shot and the deer ran for about 20-30 yards before going down. That was 1982 I think.

Same with me

mine was a 6.5x55 chest shot dead right there. What was your first?

Mine was a M38 Sporter 6.5 Swede as well, imported by Century International Arms.
I took a nice fat whitetail doe with it at about 70yds, dropped on the spot:rockOn: I also shot a young bull moose and a 3x4 Muley buck then
I gave it up for a M70 30-06 when I got posted to Cold Lake......I pick up my new to me Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 this afternoon :rockOn:

Mine was a doe 10 minutes into my first day of hunting. It was running fullpin almost towards me and as it went by about 15 yards away I pulled the trigger, no lead, right through both back hips.

The first and only deer I've ever shot in the ass.

180 gr powerpoint from a winchester model 70 pushfeed 30-06 open sights.

Pre 64 Winchester /94 in 30-30, with factory 150gr silvertip. Small doe, weighed abotu 100lbs before dressing. It was running full tilt at about 150 yards, as we were pushing the bush. through and through heart double lung, and it still ran probably 100 yards before it laid down.

Excalibur Vortex with a 125gr NAP fixed 3 blade 1 3/4" broadhead (total arrow weight 426gr) from about 28yd. she ran about 40yd laid down and that was it.

First deer ... a Model 92 Winchester rifle in .44/40. First black bear with a Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum. First moose with a Remington 742 in 308. Most recent (and certainly I hope not the last) deer & moose with a Remington 7600 in .35 Whelen. Model 700 Mountain in .257 Roberts is "on deck" for the next deer season.

Mission accomplished with .257 Roberts ... single shot with 100 gr. Nosler BT ahead of 49 gr. H4831 ! :)

PH 303 with a very pretty piece of wood on it. $175... Blows my mind why more guys/ young men don't start with one. Backbone and straight down.

Broadside .243 in the lungs. It stood there forever at about 70 yards which was good because I couldn't for the life of me find it in my scope. I was about 14.
