What Was your first deer shot with?

A borrowed Thompson Centre Pennsylvania Hunter and a lead round ball. Sat four days in the rain and finally Friday afternoon 3 does came out. 30 yds dropped where she stood. Shaking so bad I bet I didn't get 10 grains of powder down the barrel on the reload.

Mine was a 6.5x55 sweede M 38 in a monte carlo sported stock. Deer walked right out in front of me 15 yards away, even with the 4 power scope all I could see was fur. took a few seconds to find the sweet spot behind the forward shoulder.

Model 94 in .32 Win Spcl. with 170 gr ammo. Late in the 1984 deer season, I came home (to my Dad's), frustrated in not seeing anything during my morning stillhunt. He suggested another spot. I took his advice and 20 minutes later walked onto a bedded 7 point buck (Lands and Forests aged him at 9 1/2. He had used up all his fat reserves.......I think he was bedded, there, out of exhaustion:). Five shots later, with three hits to the neck, head and antler base, included racking a live round onto the ground and he was mine. To say I was exited is a giant understatement. The rest of the day made for great memories with my Dad.......I really miss him. Thanks for listening CGN friends.

1988 Chev Suburban

Head shot, instant kill.

Reported to police, waited for brother, likely could have sold to highest bidder, about 5 guys stopped

Minor damage on bumper

Pre-64 Model 70 in .270 Win. Federal 130 gr. SP factory load. 120 yds.

In that moment I discovered a true respect for the power of a firearm based on fact rather than rumour, hearsay and theory. Talk about dead - holy crap.
