What Was your first deer shot with?

Spike buck, .300 win mag with a stout bullet at 8 yards. It penciled right through. Not much meat damage, but I learned my lesson there about overkill.

Big buck at 10 yards. I was 15 and partridge hunting with a 22. Shot him in the neck.

I had been deer hunting earlier in the day but it started to snow very heavily, so I went back to camp and got my 22.

Next year I got another buck in the same locality with my LE sporter and Mexican Match with CIL 180gr Soft Points

Lol...i think this is the third time you have answered this.

In your post from 2011, you said you were 14.

Tikka .270 from 160 yards on a bounding 9 pointer. Spined it and it got his rack hung up in the wire fence. I had to finish it off with a 20 gauge slug behind the ear. Wasn't real pretty for my first.

Browning BAR 30-06 when I was 16 at about 75 yards on the side of a hill. Thought I missed initially because it started running uphill (at the time I had heard they tend to run downhill when shot). I was a bit disappointed but kept my sights on her. Then just as I was about to take another shot, she slowed down and peeled off the hill and came-a-tumblin' down in a fairly comical fashion. Poor thing.

It was 1973 , using a Savage 99 - EG in .300 sav. with Winchester 180 gr. Silver Tip ammo. A running shot @ about 40 yds.
The hit was too far back , so a long track in fresh snow finally found him . 1 more shot in the head was needed.

Winchester 94 in 30-30. Deer was about 60 yards away. The rifle itself was manufactured in and around 1900. It was my grandfathers and now belongs to my son. It's in rough condition but still shoots straight.
