What Was your first deer shot with?

The first deer that I can lay claim too was back in 1983 when I shot a doe at 50 yards with a model 70 .300 Win Mag. The memory is still vivid today.

We were pushing bush along a field. Three does ran by just inside the bush line and one stopped about 50 yards away. She gave me a quartering-away shot and the bullet went in by the heart and exited through the brisket. She bounded twice and fell over for good. We got 2 out three on that drive and was very exciting time for a bunch of nimrods. What a journey it’s been since then. I shot 5 or 6 deer with that gun before selling and buying a 30.06 Remington pump. I shot a pile of deer and a handful of moose with that gun before parting ways with it too. A 30.06 Browning high wall is the go-to weapon of choice now.
 
My father in 1954 used a 22 single shot. Thats all he had. It can & was done back in the day. I sure wished I would have asked him more about it.
I can still remember how exited he was when the Army & Navy store opened & he bought a 303 enfield for $6 bucks.
 
I used my dad's pump action 30.06 to tag a 5x5 whitetail buck when I was 13
I wish he'd never parted with it, was a beauty and you don't see many pump action necked centerfire rifles.
 
Surplus m38 6.5x55 that I had the bolt bent and drilled and tapped for a scope. Dropped it in a no name synthetic stock, see-true rings and a cheap Ruko scope. Shot a decent buck from a tree stand with some factory PMC 140gr. Didn’t go far.
 
My first deer was killed with a Mod 99 Sav in .284 Win. that I had bought new that spring for $122. I was 13 and had stacked bales for every neighbor I could find would hire me to do some work the summer before, I was 13 yrs old. when I finally put enough money together to buy the thing and turned 14 (min age to hunt deer in Ab. at the time) in time for deer season.

I got my first deer with a 284win. :)
