First firearm deer was a small buck with an old .308 - 180gr silvertips IIRC

Sako Finbear 30-06 with Redfield Widefield 1 3/4 X 5X. Ammo was Remington Corelokt 150 grain. Button buck just inside of 100 yards I would say.

My first was a whitetail doe. I used an Ithaca SxS 12 gauge with Peters 00 buckshot. I shot the doe at 20 yards with the left barrel, and dropped right where it stood.

My first deer was a W.T.Doe taken in 1973 with dad's old gun. A Remington Model 14 Pump Action in .30 Remington. The next year I got my first Moose with the same gun.

Mule deer doe at 100-150 yards with a pre '64 model 70 featherweight chambered in .30-06 shooting a winchester 180gr SP using a 4x fixed power redfield scope. broad side double lung and heart shot. she expired on the spot but not before performing a complete back flip. opening evening of rifle season Alberta 1997.

I was 17 back in 1979 and shot her with a 300 Win mag light load with a 180 grain Sierra round nose I loaded with a Lee Loader. I was the only member of about a 12 member camp to get a deer that year. That was a pretty special time.

My first deer was a nice 300 pound (before gutting) Whitetail buck taken with a single shot from my 45-70 using a 350 grain Hornady RN at 1850 fps. It dropped on the spot.

Marlin Glenfield 30A in 30-30 Win. Shot a 4-pointer through both lungs with 1 round of Federal 170 gr. Power Shok. Bullet went in between 2 ribs and out between 2 ribs. I lost maybe 2 ounces of meat. Butcher I took it to laughed and said he never seen such a cleanly killed deer. It was a 25 yard shot from a poorly constructed tree stand. Never again will I see such a perfect broadside shot....

I did the exact shot with my crossbow a couple years ago. It didn't even realize it had been shot.
