What was your first gun?

I didnt own a 22LR till my 3rd gun. My 2nd was a 45 ACP. Then again ammo was way cheaper back then.

.22 is definitly a needed firearm in the safe.
-ammo is cheap
-can have your 'friends' or wife etc use it at the range without burning up your wallet
-all time best firearm to pass on to a younger generation. there is nothing better than when grandpa gives you that .22 for the first time
 
Do air guns count? If yes, my Dad gifted me his Daisy Powerline 880 (I think it might’ve been older than me by a few months!)

If not, (like many others) first was a Ruger 10/22 Sporter that I got this summer!
 
Assuming we are talking about PAL firearms here and not the typical Daisy Red Ryder most of us had as kids...

First PAL-rated gun: Hammerli Air Magnum 850 (used a 88gr CO2 canister)
First PAL "real" gun: Ruger 10/22
 
Just got my Pal a month ago. My first was a GSG-16 Carbine. I was pleasantly surprised with its performance.
 
Bought a single shot Winchester 37A .410 shotgun with a Crown Royal bag full of Imperial shells from my sister's boyfriend for $65.
 
My 1st. gun was a Winchester Md. 68 in 1960. This is a single shot .22 LR with a rear peep sight.
After 60 yrs. of shooting , hunting & collecting I would 100% recomend this type of gun as your 1 st.
1 - s.s forces you make each shot count
2 - .22 ammo is cheap & quiet
3 - no recoil , so no flinch is developed
4 - peep sight more accurate than open sight.
5 - overall best to learn safety & marksmenship
There are many guns , after this S.S , you can buy once you have leaned the basics.

I'm a 32 year-old woman in the suburbs of Toronto, so I lived most of my life sheltered from and hating guns as a raging liberal 😂 I wish I had childhood experiences like that lol

Winchester Ranger single shot .22 got it for my 8th birthday in 1962, my mother bought it from Woodwards, no FAC or Pal required in those days, still own it and is in mint condition.
 
I bought a savage axis 30-06. I promptly got into rim fire after taking that to the range once. So having said that I would start with a .22LR bolt action. Something in the $3-400 range and a 12g pump action in the same range.. and go from there.
 
I think it was a Cooey single shot in 20 guage, the year was about 1972. I filed a slot in the hammer for a rear sight, to use slugs in it. I did buy a Uberti .45 though, registered it in my brother's name, because I wasn't old enough. Not sure now that I think about it, which one was first.
 
CIL 171 22LR bought in a hardware store in Regina in 1974. Moved to the country right after and many buckets of ammo were shot on gophers in the Big Muddy badlands. Great gun.
