Building on the "unusual first handgun" thread, just wondered what you handgun officiandos picked up for your first handgun?

My first purchase after getting my first FAC some ~ 30 years ago was a used/exc S&W K-frame Model 10 .38 Special with 4" heavy barrel. I think I paid the grand sum of $150 dollars for it with original box, papers, factory cleaning rod & brush. There was a plethora of cheap .38 Special reloads available locally in those days. And a handy pistol range that was only a 10 min drive from downtown. Shooting was allowed dawn to dusk, every day! One could purchase a handgun in the morning and literally be at the range shooting it inside of 2 hours. After the requisite trip to the local police office for the temporary registration papers, of course.

Everyone remembers the first one, no? :D

I'm a late bloomer to handguns... I bought my first, a CZ 75B in 9mm, the day before Paul Martin announced he intended to "Ban all handguns" during the election campaign. I was worried that my timing really, really sucked.

Ruger NM Blackhawk in .357mag.

Before owning I learned on my Fathers' Ruger mk1 and S&W .38 spl. amongst others.:)

Fistfull of noise!

S&W Model 61 Escort purchased 40 years ago at S.I.R. in Winnipeg for $52.50 ... an aluminum-frame .22 LR automatic (with a pressed-in steel barrel) with a six-shot magazine and a 1 7/8" barrel. It would fit inside an empty cigarette package!

Ruger Super Balckhawk .44mag. Still have it and probably always will. The second one was a 22/45 MII.

This was after shooting .45 muzzle loaders and my dads Webley 38 S&W for years.

Ruger Mk. 1 with 5.5in bull barrel and adjustable sights. Accurate, dead reliable, excellent trigger, cheap to feed- it's the one that sees the most use.

My first handgun, bought barely over a year ago, was a Browning Buckmark Bullseye Target URX, which I'll be taking to the range tonight:

quickly followed by a fantastic S&W model 15, still one of my favourite guns:
