What was your most exciting find while hunting?

Hunting blacktails on Van Isle in the early eighties, saw this white thingy hanging in a tree, walked up to it, it was a weather balloon, with a box below it.

I call BS. It's ALWAYS a weather Baloon! Tell us the truth! It was part of an extra-terestral space craft wasn't it? Who are you working for?!

:D

While hunting mule deer in the big muddy 9 years ago camo across a bunch of teepee rings. Did some asking around and found a rancher with a knowledge of the history of the land, supposedly it was the camp site of sitting bull when he fled to canada. The rancher took us on a "tour" of some other sites, he showed us buffalo and turtle effigees, and also some caves where jesse james and his gang hid from the law, really interesting stuff, I never knew southern Sask had so much history.

In 2005 I went walking in the area and found it, almost stepped on the damn thing before I saw it covered in leaves.

Maybe not exciting, just sad. Found a poor guy that just could not take it anymore, in his truck with the engine on, and out of gas, with the vacuum hose from the exhaust to the cab, all sealed with pics of the kids and a letter from his wife informing him she was leaving. Maybe the bottle of vodka made it a little bit easier, sorry fella. Hope you are resting well.

Or maybe the bottle of Vodka put him in that position in the first place... happened last year in my family.
It is unfortuntae but a reality in life I guess.

find while hunting

Dont think so, re the bottle causing the end. Far too much prep went in to it, and if the ETOH was the cause, there would have been misorganization, none of that, everything it its intended place. and Buckbrush, you are sooooo right.

my buddy and i stopped to eat a sandwich on a day hunt. were sitting talking when he let out a yell. a starving husky pup snuck up and put her nose in his hand. scared the s**t out of him. we were miles from anywhere and i guess the dog got loose and was lost. she was so skinny you could see here ribs. i had a dog of my own so i heard threw a friend of a family with a mentally handycapped boy. they came to see the dog, the young ladd would't leave without max. he named her on the spot. many years later there still best of pals.

Awesome story.

Hmmm - I guess I've found a few things.

Parts of a human skeleton near a very large village midden on the mainland between Northern Vancouver Island and the queen charlottes. (Figured it was a burial since the bones were almost entirely eaten away by moss etc).

Miner's shack sunk into the ground without a roof and mine - complete with wood stove and chairs/table covered in moss sticking out of the ground.
In the same area, while gold panning, a tailed frog, which isn't supposed to live in our part of BC.

Also found some sort of weather device - haven't sent it in yet, since most of the info on it was wrecked by rain.

This year moose hunting i came across a shelter that was part of a recently harvested growop, i did alot of looking over my shoulder after stumbling into that area

Wow, I think this is the oldest resurrected thread I have seen yet. Wasn't CGN set up around 2006?

But to stay on track, Found an old car, looked like an old derby car someone pushed over a cliff. Nothing really left but the shell and a few tires. That's about it really.

Found this stone age guy. Solid stone, on a river bank.
Drache, if you are there, I found it practicaally in your back yard!
