Long story short I bought the rifle of my DREAMS boys!!! and I thought i'd share it with you :D its a BNIB unfired 1979 Weatherby MK V in 300 weatherby cant wait to get it out to the range here's some eye candy to hold you over till I decide what scope to put on it and I get some real pics of it in the mean time what kinda glass do you think it should wear i'm thinking zeiss:rolleyes:.

Nice looking rifle. Interesting that you stumbled across a BNIB gun from the '70's too... is there a story behind that?
 
Very very nice. That rifle deserves some quality glass... pick up a earlier Ziess Conquest before the old stock dries up.

The wood looks like Birds Eye Maple, but I'm no expert on wood. Just stunning.

I'm not to sure Silverado I bought it off of a guy who picked it up at an estate sale and the reason he sold it is because he's a lefty and didn't want give it to his son for a first hunting rifle so I picked it up at a decent price I think.
 
Nice gun, beautiful piece of lumber. A rifle like that is as much about appearance as it is about performance, so I think that it needs a gloss finish Leupold in 3.5-10x or 4.5-14x in gloss rings. A matte finish scope on this gun would be atrocious.
 
Not a huge fan of wood, but this is the second thread I've come across today that is making me think otherwise.

Then again I did just have my birthday a few days ago, probably just getting wiser and realizing how good wood can look on a gun.
