I have a Winchester 94 30-30 dated *1979. That makes it AE correct? Is top eject the same thing?

I'm picking up a Williams peep sight for it. I should be getting an FP-94SE right ?

How are they anyway? Anyone use one with some good and bad points ?

here is mine

"...What Williams peep sight..." Williams has a list, by model and firearm, on their site. They make more than one style for a Win 94, as I recall.
"...How are they anyway?..." William's stuff is high end kit. So is William's as a company. You can order direct from them if you want to as well.

Have one on my late 80's 94AE .44 Mag Carbine. I'm used to peep sights so way better than the old buckhorns for me. You can screw out the aperture on the one I have for a bigger rear ring. Nice for short range in heavy brush.

...... Ok let's back track. Everyone seams to call post 64's top eject and AE.

Is there a difference ?

Yup. Williams makes a few models and that's why I'm wondering what one fits to be sure.

You are correct, you need the FP-94SE or the 5D-94SE. The 5D is not screw-adjustable but is a good sight.

I used the WIlliams on my top-eject model 94's and on my Marlins. It's a great sight. I prefer the "Twilight" aperture to the as-issued aperture, ut that's personal preference.

An angle-eject Win 94 is NOT the same as a top-eject. Top-ejects spit the empty case straight up, and Angle-ejects like yours spit the case up and o the right on an angle. The redesign was to make the rifle easier to scope. Your rifle should have holes drilled and tapped on top of the receiver for scope mounts. The aft set of holes is where your sight will mount. IF your rifle were a top-eject, the mounting holes would be at the upper rear on the left side of the receiver.

Also, on mine there is a bit of the receiver milled away on the right side I guess to allow the case to eject on an angle.

Item #70859 - 5D-94 For Winchester 94 top eject

I rushed out back in the mid 80's to buy a top eject when it was announced that the 94's were gonna become side eject. CTA had a sale on them at the time. I put a Williams on that one. But I don't recall the part number.
