What would be a good first handgun

See what fits your hand and feels right. Revolver simpler, Smith and Wesson .38/.357 magnum very versatile and reliable and can plink or heavier loads if you want ( .38 Special, +P or .357 Magnum all with same handgun and cylinder)

And I think it a 8 Shot... All stainless steel ... there are alot of great reviews .... Plus you never have to worry about magazines , or jams.

A .22 cal is great for a 15 year old kid learning firearm safety and how to shoot and handle a pistol.....but for a serious shooter....a .22 quickly becomes stale. You need something with some OMPHFFF.

Glock 17 9mm 3rd Gen.......HANDS DOWN. Relatively cheap....$695 on average....9mm ammo is cheaper than all other ammo, fun to shoot, for it's size a Very effective roundand actually feels like you're shooting a real gun, and not a Childs toy lol :p

9mm Luger is an awsomn round to shoot high volume with. I personally prefer .45 ACP but it's 2X the cost of 9mm

Glock 17 3rd Gen 9X19 ....$695.00 .....give it a shot, pun intended lol :)

Happy Shooting :)

Desert Eagle .50AE is a great first gun lol. It was my second, actually. I was a bit disappointed with it. My hands never flew up after I fired it, I never hit myself in the head with it, and I couldn't shoot down airplanes or blow up tanks or shoot hundreds of rounds without reloading, like they do in the movies. Boy was I misled.

*sigh* Oh well.

OK guys it won't be a Desert Eagle lol. But if someone knows the answer to this question it will go a long way to helping me on my search. Is there a list of various frames
buy manufacturer of sig 22x or 1911 knock offs that the 22 rimfire conversion kits fit? And has anyone had any experience with these kits?

I have a Sig Mosquito, a Browning URX 7.5" barrel, and now a new Alpha Project .22LR revolver. The revolver will be fired for the first time next week when I go to the range. I have found indeed, the Mosquito needs the Blazer mini-mags (either, oh 36-grain or 40-grain, I think - both work). It jams, as indicated, with the other ammo I have tried. I have to tell you, though, the URX is the cat's meow. well-built, all metal construction, excellent sights, and the thing is a tack-driver. I really, really enjoy shooting it. The Mosquito is less accurate at 25 yards (of course, it's barrel is about 3" shorter). I find I'm using the Browning most often.

As an aside, cleaning the Mosquito is a PITA because I have the model with the "compensator" on the front, which needs to be removed with an allen wrench.

My two cents.
