Bottom metal and mag are what's attractive. Your not going to get a Savage rifle with this type of bottom metal and mag for $500, about $500 more if they still sold it. I think $500 is a stretch too, but it's not a bad set up. I had an FCP SR. I shot the rifle well off the bipod prone even though I wasn't overly fond of the stock. I wasn't enamoured with the Cam either, but it's not a fashion show for me. I'd part with a good chunk of change to be able to use AI mags if I had it to spare.
A Savage recoil lug is pretty easy to change...not sure if it applies to this model but it's a snap on a standard 10/110 action...once you get the barrel nut loose.
The rail and monopod are nice extras too.
I agree, For $500, you will have a whole rifle, but it’s unlikely it will be the Accustock, and even more unlikely it will have bottom metal that takes AI/Scout mags. For $600, the Savage 10TR (now $700) came with the Accustock but it took Savage mags and if you wanted to have a mag that held more than 4 rounds, you’d have to get those overpriced Dark Eagle mags ($150 for a mag, wtf), or get aftermarket bottom metal for $100-150, then get your AI mags which run about $70 or so.
