What would be fair market value for a Savage accustock?

Bottom metal and mag are what's attractive. Your not going to get a Savage rifle with this type of bottom metal and mag for $500, about $500 more if they still sold it. I think $500 is a stretch too, but it's not a bad set up. I had an FCP SR. I shot the rifle well off the bipod prone even though I wasn't overly fond of the stock. I wasn't enamoured with the Cam either, but it's not a fashion show for me. I'd part with a good chunk of change to be able to use AI mags if I had it to spare.

A Savage recoil lug is pretty easy to change...not sure if it applies to this model but it's a snap on a standard 10/110 action...once you get the barrel nut loose.

The rail and monopod are nice extras too.

I agree, For $500, you will have a whole rifle, but it’s unlikely it will be the Accustock, and even more unlikely it will have bottom metal that takes AI/Scout mags. For $600, the Savage 10TR (now $700) came with the Accustock but it took Savage mags and if you wanted to have a mag that held more than 4 rounds, you’d have to get those overpriced Dark Eagle mags ($150 for a mag, wtf), or get aftermarket bottom metal for $100-150, then get your AI mags which run about $70 or so.

Count in smith fees that run about $80 - $90 per hour to get the stock inletted and the BM installed correctly.

I totall forgot about that, that is true, it definitely won't be free to get the aftermarket bottom metal into the stocl.

Ok, so I’m bored, that’s why I keep coming back to this thread. I did some quick math and worked out what it would cost you to acquire this set up. The figures are on the very conservative side:

$100 – Accustock (EE pricing when the 10TR first hit the market, not sure what current value is as there are none on EE right now)
$120 -Bottom metal (PTG Trigger guard for AICS Detachable Box Magazine (cheapest I could find)
$80 – Labour for inletting and installation (assuming it will take an awesome smith to do it in an hour, however unlikely)
$70 – AI Magazine
$20 - Front bipod rail
$100 – Accu Shot Precision Monopod
$100 – Hydrodip

It would conservatively set you back at $580 total, not including any taxes or shipping that could be incurred. That’s not to say the OP should be asking $580, as we all know very well how EE works, but if you factor in that it could potentially cost you $590-700 with some tax and shipping thrown in, asking $500 doesn’t seem all that far-fetched anymore.

Ahem, about 6 months ago I called Savage about the bottom metal and mag bottom replacement (needed for a Boyd stock) and I was quoted $60 and $20 respectively.

Well, I’m not making this stuff up:

H ttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/164425/ptg-trigger-guard-for-aics-detachable-box-magazine-savage-10-series-short-action-with-44-screw-spacing-top-bolt-release-aluminum-black

When you called Savage for bottom metal replacement, did you ask if it was a total drop-in replacement unit for an Accustock (that was set up to take the Savage 4 round magazine) to convert it so that it could take Accuracy International Magazines with no modifications to the stock whatsoever? It’s a straight re-and-re?

If they had such a product, I’m sure that a great many Savage 10TR owners would be VERY interested in such a unit for $60 and $20 respectively. In fact, I have 4 friends who have Savage 10TRs, who have cash on hand right now and are waiting for a telephone contact, name of representative and parts numbers so they can order these parts.

Call Savage at (413) 568-7001 and they'll give you the part numbers and prices based on the action and stock.

I called them, and there is no such part that will simply replace the bottom metal on a Savage 10TR AccuStock that will allow it to accept Accuracy International/Ruger Scout mags.

I'm also not entirely sure what you are referencing when you stated $60 and $20 respectively, Savage certainly had no clue what I was talking about. AI/Scout mags retail for at least $79.

When I asked over in the Savage 10TR thread about bottom metal that accepts AI/Scout mags, this is what one person said:

It's called a CDI bottom metal.....

Jerry Teo @ mystic precision was able to provide one for my 10TR.... Price was about 250 iirc. It dropped right into the HS stock I put the 10 into.... There have been some reports of fitting being required.

I'll try to post some pics later this evening!

Cheers!
