I think another company's owner/president (can't remember whom) wanted to get into the "optics mounting" line of things as a competitor against LaRue and GG&G.

There was a giant thread about it on AF15.com while LaRue complained (and actually tried to take ADM to court) about their design being copied (the vertical split rings) although it was thrown out of court because it wasn't an original idea (Warne rings for example)


From what I remember the owner of whatever company I mentioned before, opened up a new business as "American Defense MFG" to make the QR optics mounts. They are now "partners" with guys like Tango down, Noveske (as LaRue and noveske I think used to be a little closer) Daniel Defense (all mentioned as partners on ADM's site).

So essentially the company was opened with their special locking lever bar idea for scope mounts, and they've applied it to quite a few optics mounts and other things (light rails, vertical grips - ala tango-down). They aren't as well known as LaRue stuff is, but they are very high quality products.

Check out Arms East, they carry ADM stuff :D

Also some cheaper items (like the low-pro Aimpoint Micro mount) can be had by Brownells.
 
I haven't followed the politics behind ADM, but for whatever reason, I do remember the initial Mark Larue review of the ADM offerings, where as I recall, he really couldn't say anything bad about them.

I don't see any particular similarities between the rings (again, that doesn't exist elsewhere), or the Lever Lock system, unless that it contains a lever, and a lock. I think is that the design is superior to the Larue QR in ease of adjustability, attachment, and unlocking/detachment. It is easier to mount to a larger variety of rails (with no tools), holds tight, is easy to unlock, and does not mar the rifles finish.

I can say, we can put them on other peoples guns without marring their finish, which I couldn't say about the Larue mounts.

ADM for the win.

I reckon if Larue mounts were easily attainable in Canada and ADM was restricted because the manufacturer couldn't bother to fill sizable Canadian dealer orders, people would be screaming out for ADM products.

Either certainly work fine to accurately hold a scope to a rifle.

Well... Helpfully they'll be able to get their products into Canada soon.

It doesn't matter if you like them or not, more guns and accessory's available == more competitive prices.

Of course they are - They're scrambling for the inevitable re-taking of the White House by a republican. Which will result in a 40% drop in sales once people quit panicking.

Yes that would be the one.

I remember back during the original ADM releases, the overall specs (how far its cantilevered, ring height etc...) was very similar to the LaRue ones, so the ADM should do exactly what the LaRue one would do.
 
The recon rocks. Very solid and well made. I have one recon, one scout, and three other aimpoint mounts made by ADM. I'd take larue too, but it's never available. You won't be sorry going with adm.
