I'm not sure where you got that info but once again it's not from experience.
I had some .45 ACP tracers once fired from a 1911 (5" barrel) and they lit up before hitting the 50 yard mark on our gun range.

I had some .45 ACP tracers once fired from a 1911 (5" barrel) and they lit up before hitting the 50 yard mark on our gun range.
If you want to load your own tracers, I have some 308 and 310 tracer bullets for sale. $40 /100, including shipping.

Edit: Guy’s I just got back from the Post office. Those of you who have paid by EMT for your bullets now have them on the way. I leave for Mexico on the weekend, so I will ship the balance when I get back.
Those who have ordered, or order by midnight today (Friday, Feb 6) will have the original deal of free shipping honoured.
But, I did get hammered at the Post Office. Seems every lonely trapper in the far flung outreaches of Canada wants to play with tracers….
As of tomorrow, the price is the same( $40/100) but add $5.00/100 as a contribution to shipping costs.
