Maybe it's just a dream; but what would it take to buy barrelled gunpowder by the truckload direct from the factory? If it's a powder magazine I've got the locations and a shooting partner who's a concrete contractor. If it's a manufacturing licence, maybe that could be done. If its customers for custom
orders that could arranged. What would it take, or can it even be done?

Or maybe it's just a dream.

Appropriate business license.
Safe storage area legal distance from other properties with Anti-static and fire proof measures.
Lots of insurance.

I used to do it. Powders came in 20kg and 60 pound fibre drums. I used most of it myself, but also sold drums of powder to target shooters and one dealer.

All I needed was a manufacturing license and a magazine. I would buy 1300 lbs at a time. My little pick up bulked out at that load. I would buy several times a year.

The manufactures did it as a favour to me - not really a big deal for them. But I did some favours for them, too.

OK, that's progress. Is it the sort of thing that less connected folks could do? It doesn't have to be canister grade.

You can get some powders like win 231 in smaller bulk quantities however last time I was in discussions with people if you want a more popular powder like titegroup then the quantity required for bulk purchase is significantly higher

I don't know. Get the manufacturing license and then call the manufacturer and tell them you want to order about (say) 6,000 pounds a year. Give them an idea of what powders you have in mind. It goes without saying it won't be canister speed. They will supply some info with each lot # to give you an idea. Like "fast 4831" or "slow 4350", etc.

I used to solve the shipping cost issue by having them include my order with a truckload going to a nearby distributor.

Yes Ganderite is very correct to state that OEM powder is a bit different than going to the store and buying a few 8 pounders. When you buy a new "lot" due diligence is that you go through a new workup. You might have negligible change or you might need to add or drop a few tenths of grains to get same results.

Dogleg............you can count me in for a chunk of such an order. Wouldn't it be nice to work up a load and then have 100 lbs of the same lot number..........you could work up a load and then shoot out a barrel with out ever having to recheck your load. Or in the case of my 50 cal I could actually shoot it enough to have some fun without always being worried about running out of powder an not being able to get more of the same.........with a whole 26 loads to the pound..........
