SO BlackRam You ever do anything with the Lefty action other then caress it ?RJ
The LH Montana action sold awhile ago.
Used the funds to buy a lh Tikka in 338 Federal. Sighted it in with the Federal Fusion 200 gr ammo for now. Original owner said it shot the 180gr AccuBond ammo into 1/2" groups but I do not have any on hand at the moment.
Hunting moose so far with my new Sako 85 LH Hunter in 9.3x62. So far it is shooting the Nosler 250 gr AccuBond ammo into just over 1/2" at 100 yards and is very comfortable even off the bench. Noticeable difference in recoil with the Lapua 285 gr Mega ammo!
OP says he ordered a Mag LA, but received a Mag SA. I thought I'd missed something, but that is why all the suggestions for SA chamberings.
The way I read it, it was an unused action from a private party, not from the factory...That, in itself, red flags the #### out of me. Ordered a certain action, got the completely wrong thing and rather than going back to the person it was ordered from just decides to sell it at a loss? Call me a skeptic, but that doesn't pass the sniff test to me.
blargon; You are correct; I bought the action from an estate sale of a local gunsmith and was told it was a long action with a magnum bolt face, and much later found it to be a short action with magnum bolt face when taking measurements of the magazine box. Was originally going to build a 338 Win Mag on the action.
Have decided that I would like to build a 6.5 PRC instead, and built a 338 Federal on another donor rifle.
Have since decided on a 6.5 PRC mountain rifle project and the Montana is a pretty heavy action, so sold this and source a lighter action for the build when the time comes.
So I put it up for sale. Put in the ad what the action sells for in the US from Montana to establish value. And no, I did not sell it for a loss. New buyer got a bargain and I got my money back out of it. Was a win-win situation for both of us.
