I need opinions... what is doable?

I have a BRNO model one barreled action .22 . The action has an adjustable trigger. The barrel has been loosened, and then reset, but it has a "ring" in the center of it that can be seen with close inspection. There are no sights mounted but I do have a set of model 4 sights that can be mounted.
Question.. stock it as is and shoot it, rebarrel and shoot it , or sell it off and get an inexpensive .22 ?
I I sold it off , what should be the asking price?

I have a brno #1 and I find it not only accurate, but a pleasure to shoot and carry. A classy and well built firearm that deserves to be brought back to its former glory. I would rebarrel and restock it personally, but I am a sucker for a project

The ring that you can see, how far from the breach is it?
A way back in time, when 22 ammo was made with corrosive primers, they would commonly "ring the barrel," usually about 3 inches into the rifling.
I have seen such barrels.
At one time if someone wanted to sell, or buy, a used 22 rifle, the question would always be asked, "Is it ringed?
The way you describe the ring, it may not interfere with shooting, at all.

This seems like a question that would be better answered by going out and shooting it. If you want to sell it off without testing, it seems only reasonable that a prospective buyer will assume the worst and account for a new barrel in the cost. If it shoots well, then why not just keep it?

I agree that you need to shoot it to see if it`s screwed or not. I was in a similar position with a #1 that has a badly pitted barrel. I was going to build a 17hm2 till my b in law talked me out of it. It`s not cheap to rebarrel a rifle so you have to decide if it`s worth it for you. If it has sentimental value that can factor in some extra expense. Most options in gun building are doable it all depends on how deep your pockets are.

working with the model 1 brno

Thanks for the ideas.. I am still stuck on what to do. I had thought of converting to a .17 hmr as well but would it be worth it?

What about a reline job? A cheap barrel?

I haven't tried it at the range yet sights and stock problems ( not to mention the COLD :)
