What would you do?

You came on here to ask us what we would do.. I think it's safe to say that 95% of people on here say that they would ignore it and carry on... But it's your choice so either way just man up, make ur choice and carry on..

This sounds like Suzzy running to the teacher to tell the teacher that Jimmy pushed Bobby and Bobby fell and Bobby got hurt and Jimmy shouldn't do that.

Oh, don't forget about Arthur at the back of class eating glue.

You better double check the laws and fine print related to bowhunting in that area... there are many loop holes in municipal by-laws related to hunting within townships and city limits. In our area there are permissible zones to discharge firearms when hunting geese and coyotes... these are areas WITHIN the city limits... the problem is, most locals don't know this and neither do most of the police... we have had to educate citizens and police officers responding to complaints... we have had hunts disrupted countless times by people taking it upon themselves to come charging in to our set up to confront us... in one extreme case, a guy drove into a field we were hunting with his 4X4 and ran over our decoys, while honking his horn, then proceeded to do donuts in our spread, until the truck stalled, at which point we yanked him out of the cab and sat on him until the police arrived, post 911 call... in the end, he agreed to pay for the decoys and everything got dropped.

Poachers don't get a pass. I have called in illegal hunters and will do so again. In this case (no hunting, no discharge) I would definitely call. No confrontation with the criminal. No discussion with the neighbour. Call it in and let the CO or police handle it.

I'm betting he isn't breaking the law... OP, you better research better before (if) you go charging in...

My reason for thinking he is legal???

1. His stand is 30 feet behind the OP's property and he is using a baited site... poachers are criminals, but the are usually sneaky criminals... there is nothing sneaky about what he is doing.

2. The landowner gave him permission... to do what??? Hunt...

3. Municipal by-laws often allow for bowhunting in greenbelts, and make exceptions to "no-discharge" laws to allow it.

Life is not perfect, or fair, this is not the crime of the century, or the month for that matter. There is an unwritten code for situations such as this. It called "live and let live". In other wards say nothing, know nothing and mind your own business. There may come a time you may do something your neighbours don't agree with and you may appreciate the code and there discretion at that time.

Where does the code begin and end? When do you live and let live? Illegal hunting? Shooting a AR with a 30 round mag? Dumping toxic waste? Grow-op? Meth lab? Dead hookers under the pig barn?

Seriously? An armed poacher? What is wrong with people.. This thread needs to get locked before it gets any more ridiculous

Well...what's wrong with me is : a) I'm a law-abiding hunter
b) Don't want someone behind my back yard shooting a kid with an arrow by accident.
c) Met a decent guy who was a C.o_On a fishing trip. He got shot by someone a few weeks later while working.

Seriously...what IS wrong with some people. OMG indeed. He will sort things out.

If a guy is beating the #### out of his wife or a kid in front of you would you inject yourself??

Of course, this is definitely not even a close comparison. The facts as we have been told are that the op has seen someone hunting with a bow adjacent to his property. What would that mean to me? Nothing.

Thanks for all the input, will leave the hunter do his thing. The no hunting area is a river that goes tru our township, homes on both sides of it, in our are the river had a large water shed on this side, my lot does not goto river, I was told in the past no hunting because of all the homes and children in area.

That is probabley the wise decision to make . If I have read the thread correctly , the land owner has given permission to the hunter to use his property. ; so that is their business at this point......Plus hunting season does not really last all that long , so that problem will solve itself shortly when the season ends . It would be a different situation if the hunter was trespassing , but the landowner is aware , and has agreed to the hunt....
